I could be wrong but I think this is the last in a series that brings together some of Andrew Grey's more remarkable strengths: Life on the farm in the middle of a conservative community; loving couples who break ground therein and develop lasting relationships,;and troubled men who stumble upon each other and fall completely and overwhelmingly in love.That Grey throws in another of his most reliable tropes--a young child for one of the couples--is a key to this series and eight-year-old Archie almost steals the show once again as he did in the first two books.Clay and Dell's goat farm is bursting with success because their special goat cheese products are taking off. Their assistant, Mark (on the cover), whose family farm is not doing well up the road after his mother died leaving his father in shambles, is getting overwhelmed with the work. So Clay decides to hire another hand.Isaac, the one he selects has come by the farm several times looking for work and even though Clay is hesitant about hiring him because he knows he's from a strict and isolated religious community Isaac comes on board.You can see where this is going when this takes place and the beauty of this book is how carefully and logically author Grey handles the conflicting needs and deeds associated with a potentially volatile bunch of relationships.That's because Isaac's community is not quite as open as the Amish(the Amish are "open?"--yes, compared to these people), and that means there are really tough rituals that we are walked through before we get to some really heart wrenching parts.Through it all Mark is having issues with his father, Clay and Dell are struggling with how to keep their living growing, and Alan and Haley from Book #2 add sugar and spice to a situation that has Mark confused and Isaac terrified--they are attracted to each other and no good will come of that.Except that Andrew Grey is a master at figuring these things out and how he does it in this book will bring a deep sense of satisfaction and a smile as wide as the Michigan farm belt.
